Earn smart, save consistently and spend wisely!
Reading stories or the ordinary world of reading is a highly relevant form of education, including financial education. That is why we have created Me and Money, which is an initiatory journey, comprising a set of 10 captivating stories on financial education with young people, about young people and for young people.
Me and Money focuses on the journey of five friends, and as they interact, spend time together, and dialog, they practice using different basic financial strategies and apply easy money learning techniques.
As in any story, including our protagonists encounter different challenges and obstacles that force them to think critically, generate creative ideas, increase their empathy, strengthen their social-emotional skills, and practice simple financial behaviors.
To raise awareness of the importance of financial education, they will be faced with situations where they have to prioritize their needs over wants, resist impulse purchases or find ways to earn or save money. They also convey ideas about the concept of delayed gratification and how rewards come with disciplined saving habits, exploring topics such as comparing products for purchase, planning current expenses, saving money, or making responsible financial decisions for the future.
Throughout their journey, young people recognize the importance of saving for themselves and are challenged to set out on a personal mission to learn how to accomplish specific goals.
We want readers, of course, to brainstorm ideas, make personal plans and implement practical steps to earn money wisely, reduce their running costs, learn to make smart spending choices for their various projects and find ways to save their money, save consistently and invest for personal well-being.
So, Me and Money is a project-story divided into 10 chapters (adventures), which George and Ada, together with 3 of their friends, go through step by step. The educational experience is both online and offline, with each of the 10 chapters that can be accessed online being supported by offline hands-on quizzes, so that young people in the transition to adulthood can deepen their understanding of financial and investment concepts. The glossary of terms is an easily accessible resource designed to explain complex words, notions and concepts, and the adventures and challenges are designed to facilitate understanding of financial concepts and motivate readers to persevere on the path to building sound financial behavior and financial intelligence in a contemporary context.
